Week 10 - End of Year

To all the wonderful Room 11 Parents

I can't believe we are at the end of another year.  I have had a brilliant time teaching your children this year in Room 11.  It has never been a dull moment and we always have had exciting things happening.  Thank you for all the wonderful gifts, cards and words.  I am over the moon with love and appreciation for you all.  

Thank you for all your fantastic support this year.  Without you your children would not have done so well.

Since Term 2 we have been sending letters back and forth to our penpals in Christchurch a Selwyn House School.  

Today Room 11 got such a surprise to see our penpals live when we did a zoom conference.  It was so awesome to chat and see lots of things about each of our schools that were the same and different.

For the first 3 weeks of term Room 11 are doing athletics on a Thursday.  It is a session full of skills and games.  Here are some photos of this week.

Week 10 - Mental Health Awareness Week

This week in Room 11 we are learning how to stay healthy in every way using the 

Hauora Te Whare Tapa Wha model.

Monday - We learnt about mindfulness, belly breathing and finding our happy place. The children made an origami boat to put on their tummy to help them learn to breathe deeply. Below is the link to make the origami boat.

Week 3: Statistics

The children have been learning all about Statistics.  They have learnt how to collect data, make picture, bar and PIE graphs.  They are currently working on a statistical investigation where they have been and surveyed another class to find out their favourite pizza topping.  They are now using the data to make some graphs.  Then they will write about their findings...  When their investigations are finished I will publish them here so you can see all the hard work...

We have started learning all about persuasive writing.  This week the children had to persuade me to let them have an OREO biscuit.  They did some amazing writing.

What happens to water in the sun?

For our last science experiment for the term the children were curious to know what happens to water on the playground after it has rained.  We went outside and tipped some water on the concrete.  Then we drew around it. Just happened to make a giraffe... then we waited.

We went back out a bit later and wow the water had gone. We had a fantastic discussion about where the water went. Then we learnt a new word...
