Week 8 and 9 - Matariki Art

 During Week 8 and 9 the children were learning about Matariki.  Here are some clips that I shared with them in the class.


This clip I shared the creation story with the class. It starts at 8.25.  The whole clip is interesting to watch if you want to learn more about Matariki.


The children learnt about each star in the Matariki cluster.

The children coloured in their own Matariki stars and created a collage of the ground.  They then coloured in a whare to put on the hill.  Here are some completed Matariki art...


Week 8 - Matariki Art and Matariki Celebration

 This week the children have been working hard on a matariki collage.  


We welcomed Jeary into Room 11.

On Friday we celebrated Matariki by singing a waiata and planting a tree.  Dayton was the representative from our class to help.

Term 2 - Weeks 1 - 5

 I would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Bretz and Mrs Dinel who stepped into take Room 11 while I was away.  Thank you for all your hard work and the amazing things you did with Room 11.  Here is a slide show of just a bit of that fun...

Week 10 - Hauora

As a final part of our Hauora Inquiry the children made their own Te Whare Tapa Wha.  Inside it is full of slips of paper on how to take care of their mental wellbeing (Hauora).  

I hope they are now somewhere special at home...

Week 10 - The Royal New Zealand Ballet

 Imagine our surprise to receive an email saying we could join some other schools for some more personal ballet lessons.  On Monday the instructor Lauren came into Room 11 via zoom.  It was so much fun.

Week 10 - Roulstone Park

 Room 11 went for a walk on Monday to Roulston Park to have a look at the site.  Then they came back to class and used google to choose some equipment and make a slide with a buddy.  They voted on their favourite equipment.  Then they worked really hard to desgin their own ultimate playgrounds.  We can't wait to see what the new playground looks like...
