Week 7 - Statistical Investigations

The children worked in teams of 4 to conduct a statistical investigation.

They followed these steps…

1. Pose a question.

2. Gather the data by asking each person in the class their question.

3. Change the answer into a tally mark.

4. Analyse the data and use the tally marks to create graphs.

5. Form conclusions and use the data from the graphs to make a statement.

Here they are presenting their findings to the class.

Week 6 - The Ugly Duckling

This week during Literacy we listened to the story of the Ugly Duckling.  Here is a version of the story you might like to listen to again.

For drama we practiced how it would feel to be an duckling breaking out of our egg and then moving in the world for the first time.

On Friday Mrs Massey shared with a clip of 2 people from the Royal New Zealand ballet.  They taught us the dance of the Ugly Duckling.  We then practiced and practiced.  It took us half and hour to learn the moves to a 1 1/2 minute performance.

Here we are performing the dance. After this we watched the real performance of the Ugly Duckling.

What did you think?  Mrs Massey thought we were amazing!

Week 5 - Fingerprint Art

When I was away Mrs Bretz-Malcom did some

fantastic fingerprint art.

It is so unique and individual just like the children in

Room 11.

Week 5 - Giraffes Can't Dance

We read the book Giraffes Can’t Dance and Mrs Massey thought

drawing a giraffe was a great idea.

We followed an artist as he drew a giraffe.

It was challenging!

Just like Gerald in the story we learnt that there are things we can’t do,

but actually we can’t do them YET!

We learnt it is ok to make mistakes if we learn from them.

We also learnt that working on challenging things

will keep our brain growing.

Our giraffes are individuals just like us!

Week 5 - The jet in the sky!

At morning tea today we saw a jet fly over and then it started circling.  The children were fascinated so we looked up on the world aeroplane tracker.

We saw it was a NZ defence force plane.  It was fascinating to watch it outside in flying in circles and then come inside and watch it live on the flight radar.

Here is an article about it...
