Week 9 - Matariki
This week the children learnt all about Matariki and did lots of activities to celebrate Matariki. Here is a a you-tube clip that explains Matariki.
They made some 3D stars, coloured collaboratively each of the 9 stars, made 2 feathers for a korowai. Then on Friday they made a mini kite. On Friday afternoon they then worked with their buddy from Room 21 to make another mini kite for them. We can't wait for you to come into Room 11 this week to come and see the work they have done.
On Friday we also had a matariki shared lunch of hot bread and bacon hock soup. The children also learnt all about yeast and the science behind bread making which was part of our inquiry unit.
