Thank you to Taryn and Shawn, Gemma, Marcus, Wendy, Macy and Sarah.  You did a super job and we sold out of all our stall on Saturday barring 5 plants... Wow!

Thanks to the great support at Dunk the Teacher. I had so much fun.
I also met a special visitor who we will be seeing lots this coming week.
Hi Harold...

My World - Who are we?

We have started our new Inquiry - My World... Keep a look out for notices coming home next week about this inquiry.

Get NZ Writing

This week Room 11 has been busy learning about poetry.  We are part of the Get NZ Writing.  We are working hard to get our poetry finished to send down to our buddy school in Christchurch.  The children are having so much fun playing with words and language.

First we made a Yellow Extravaganza poem together...

Then we brainstormed so many words about a piece of driftwood and wrote driftwood poems. You will have to pop in to Room 11 to read these amazing poems...

Then we filled in the special poem sheet. This was soo fun...

Next week we finish up... Then we will wait excitedly until our package arrives back...

Week 7 - The boys last cricket and being proud of their medals!

Week 6 - Maths

We are starting to really get into the routines of Room 11.  Here are some photos of us learning about place value using equipment.

Cooperative Play

During Inquiry through Play the children work cooperatively together on activities that interest them. Cooperation and teamwork are important skills to develop.  What an authentic way for them to do this...

The beautiful house

A group of girls worked cooperatively to make a beautiful house.  They finally finished it and even signed a treaty to say that they had to share it.
Well done girls...

Week 5 - Valley KIDS

This week we finish our inquiry into being a Valley KID.  The last activity we did was to work with the people in our house to colour a giant Valley KIDS.  This stays up on the wall for the rest of the year to remind us what it means to be a Valley KID.

Hectors World

We were learning all about cyber safety.  We watched a series of clips on Hectors World.  The most important things we learnt were...

  • If I see something that is not good on the internet I stop and go to tell an adult straight away.
  • To be careful not to give away my personal details when I am online.
  • That there are people we trust and don't trust.  When we are online we can't see the person so we treat everyone online as someone we don't trust.
Here is the link to Hectors World if you want to watch the clips again or play the games...  Click on the KIDS sign

Week 4

This week in Room 11 we started the week learning about self control.  Mrs Massey blew bubbles and we jumped around yelling and trying to catch all the bubbles.  It was chaos.... then we talked about self control.  We decided self control was choosing to sit still, choosing not to call out and choosing to be quiet.

Mrs Massey blew the bubbles again and we had to show self control.  If we were really good at it the bubbles would land on us....

Merry Christmas and the last blog post ever

Well the time has come to say goodbye to my blog.  I started this blog in March of 2017 when I moved into Room 11 to keep my families in t...
